In a post on www.itsa.gov.au it has been advised that from 15 August 2013, the Insolvency & Trustee Service Australia (ITSA) will be known as the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA). The change is in name only – our services remain the same.

We administer and regulate Australia’s personal insolvency system. Insolvency occurs when you are unable to pay back your debts as and when they fall due. We also administer the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) where security interests in personal property can be registered and searched.

The name ITSA has served us well, however it no longer captures the breadth of our business. The Australian Government agreed that there was a need for a name that had a better fit with what we do.

Our clients and stakeholders also told us that the name ITSA didn’t help us to tell our story – what we do and what people can expect from us.

Our clients, stakeholders and staff had an active role in choosing our new name and I’m delighted that we have received approval to adopt the name that was most favoured.

From 15 August 2013, you will find our website at www.afsa.gov.au. Please take the time to update any links to our website. We will continue to keep the www.itsa.gov.auweb address open for a time, so that if people enter this address they will be automatically directed to our website.

You can continue to use any email addresses for us if you swap ‘itsa’ for ‘afsa’, for example stakeholders@afsa.gov.au rather than stakeholders@itsa.gov.au.

For our PPSR clients and stakeholders there is no change to the PPSR website address (www.ppsr.gov.au).

Over the coming months you will start to see our new name more and more as we update existing products. During this time you might still see the name ITSA, but please be assured we are the same organisation offering the same quality service.

I hope you like our new name and hope it won’t take long to think of us as AFSA. We look forward to continuing to work with you.
